Once again coming in to say that men punching women is not self defense, it's just opportunistic assault.
Self defense i pnly applies to the necessary force needed to eliminate a threat. Breaking someone's skull for slapping you goes beyond necessary force.
That's one thing I like about older movies (older as in from the 70s), the actors often just look like actual, regular people.
Like, look at the cast from Alien (1979)
They look like people you would see in a grocery store.

Even if you ignore the ridicules costumes, those aren't regular people, these people are models and body builders who got prepped by professional makeup artists for hours.
They look artificial, they look staged, they look fake. And worst of all: they look completely unrelatable like they're from a slightly different species that always has perfect hair and flawless skin because it was grown in a lab or something.
It just shows you how much hollywood has warped beauty standards in the past few decades, and now all these fucking influencers try to look just as fake.

This is the issue I have with "the left needs to speak to men and young boys more" because the left is honestly too forgiving of men and boys. They are hardly written off or abandoned. So what they mean is the left needs to make men and boys more comfortable, which is a problem when the thing that is making them uncomfortable is womens liberation and the loss of the relationships, housewives and emotional labour that they feel entitled to. Because by "the left needs to speak to men" they mean "lay off the fucking feminism."
